The second chapter of the Burnside State School entry project gave me the opportunity to extend the story along the exterior wall — and to add something a little more personal to the welcome.
This mural greets visitors with two beautifully rendered student portraits framed by rolling green hills, golden skies, and fluffy clouds — a landscape that feels as warm and inviting as the school itself. To the right of the entry window, a tree branches out with the school's values — Trust, Believe, Belong — woven into its canopy, a quiet but powerful reminder of what Burnside stands for.
Together, the two murals create a complete entry experience — one that tells you everything you need to know about this school before you've even walked through the door.
It was such a pleasure to work on both of these projects and to contribute something lasting to the Burnside community. Schools like this one remind me of the incredible role art can play in creating spaces where people feel proud, seen, and welcome.
