The Crone is one of the seven stages of womanhood — an acknowledgment of wisdom, personal power and the hard-won knowledge that only comes from living. Flanked by a black cockatoo and a barn owl against a dusky purple ground, she sits in prayer amid mushrooms, lupins and gold-leafed eucalyptus. She sees with more than her eyes. This is a painting about gratitude for the full journey — the dark and the light, the joy and the pain — and the profound dignity of a woman who has travelled it.
