Outside In
Ongoing Exhibition: Arts in Health St Vincent's Private Hospital, Brisbane
Art has always been about connection for Rachel — and nowhere does that feel more meaningful than in a hospital. Being part of the Outside In program at St Vincent's Private Hospital, Brisbane, is one of the most quietly rewarding threads running through her practice.
The program places artworks throughout the hospital to give patients a window beyond their immediate surroundings — encounters with people, places, and experiences that extend beyond the ward. Works that invite reflection, stir memory, offer a moment of stillness or spark of recognition in the middle of something hard.
To make an impact on someone's day in the slightest of ways through my visual stories is what I create for. It seemed especially important when my works were shown across the Cancer ward.
Collections of Rachel's work are held across two St Vincent's locations — an ongoing presence in spaces where art can do some of its most important work.
